A dramatic twist of color from top to tip, this Metzler Bros. glass icicle turns a classic ornament shape into something wonderfully unexpected. Spiraling panels of turquoise, pink, red, blue, green, yellow, orange and soft blue alternate between glossy jewel-like finishes and sparkling sections, with fine glitter tracing the curves and emphasizing the sculptural twist. The long, slender silhouette gives the color room to travel down the ornament, creating a completely different view as it turns on the tree. Made in Poland, it brings together Metzler Bros.’ distinctive use of bold color, vintage-inspired forms and detailed glasswork.

Tuck these long icicles between round ornaments to introduce a completely different shape and create movement through the tree. They are especially fun mixed among colorful glass ornaments, but I also love the idea of letting several hang together where their twisting silhouettes can really be seen.
The color combination is what immediately grabs you, but look at how the ornament is constructed. Each band of color follows the spiral rather than simply decorating the surface, while glittered edges define every twist. As the ornament turns, another combination of colors comes into view.
Use these as colorful vertical accents toward the outer tips of the branches, where the elongated shape can hang freely. Mix them throughout a multicolor tree, repeat several at different heights, or use them to pull together ornaments in pink, turquoise, red, blue, green and gold.
