The Shepherds gather with their sheep in this gentle scene from Metzler Bros.’ O Holy Night collection. Soft pastel tones of yellow, white and pink give the ornament a noticeably different feeling from the richer colors of the other pieces in the series, while delicate hand-painted details bring the figures to life. There’s more to discover on the reverse, where a second scene has been painted by hand. Mouth blown and individually painted in Poland, the Shepherds are one of four ornaments sold separately in the collection.

The Shepherds and their sheep bring another part of the Nativity story into the O Holy Night collection. Display the ornament individually or combine it with the Holy Family, Three Wise Men and Carolers, each sold separately, to bring all four scenes together on your Christmas tree.
The softer palette really distinguishes this piece. Pastel yellow, white and pink give the shepherds and sheep a warm, gentle appearance, with delicate painted details adding definition throughout the scene. Even the reverse is used as a canvas, with another scene painted by hand.
Try placing the Shepherds near the Holy Family to visually connect the two scenes, with the Three Wise Men positioned a little farther away. Because artwork continues onto the reverse, choose an open branch where the ornament has space to turn and both painted sides can be appreciated.
